Launch week is here!
After four months of hard work (and a bit of panic) we are launching our very own music blog. That is a full seven years after Ryan Howard declared that “Blogs are out”.
As you can read in our “About” section, our main feature will be to interview musicians as music fans:
“The Thanks List” was created in the summer of 2018 with the goal of discussing music with people who are really passionate about it, most notably, musicians themselves. The name is a nod to the pre-internet days when we would discover new music by meticulously browsing the “thanks lists” of our favourite records and subsequently check out any band or artist featured in these lists. It would give us a window into their world and was one of the most efficient tools that we had to learn about similar artists in music genres that were less radio friendly.
Our goal, with this project, is to do just that: help our readers discover new music in the same way these “thanks lists” did for us. In the forms of in depth interviews, we invite musicians to share with us their experience as lifetime music fans, offering a platform to promote the music that they love and that is important to them. Hopefully you enjoy reading these interviews as much as we do!
Besides the main feature, we will also discuss every aspect of being an obsessive music fan. We’re interested in the visual artist involved in the music scene and what their thoughts are on what makes a good tour poster or album cover. We’re interested in the person who spends a lot of time digging in the archives, collecting old zines or bootleg recordings. Our opinion pieces will cover a variety of subjets, including our thoughts on what we feel are great records, songs and concerts.
For launch week, a new article will be posted every day, kicking things off in style with Dom Romeo (Integrity, Pulling Teeth, A389recordings), which you can read here. We have a lot more planned for the upcoming weeks, so keep your eyes open, follow us on Instagram and Facebook for updates and thanks for reading!
