What are some of your favorite song lyrics? Lyrics that have been important to you or that had an impact on you?
The only lyricist in Metal I can think of that has had an impact on me is Kirk from CROWBAR. This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy other people’s stuff but I can’t think of any other examples.

Do you remember the first time music had an impact on you?
Yeah. I was about 2 years old and I really liked the AEROSMITH Walk This Way video. I liked MICHAEL JACKSON, ALICE COOPER, and that GENESIS video Land Of Confusion used to scare the shit out of me.
What were you listening to in elementary school? Then in high school? How much of that music is still a part of your playlists today? How have your musical tastes evolved since?
Nirvana, White Zombie, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, LL Cool J, Michael Jackson, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Megadeth, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains in Elementary school
Nile, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Incantation, Sepultura, Carcass, Broken Hope, Monstrosity, Disincarnate, Hypocrisy, Marilyn Manson, Nine inch Nails in high school.
What are some of the most memorable shows you’ve ever seen? What makes them stand out?
I’ve seen SUNN O))) five different times and each time was a different experience and amazing. The first time I saw NEUROSIS I was blown away. Same with CROWBAR. CONVERGE during that You Fail Me tour was some crazy shit. The ROOTS, NAPALM DEATH, SUTEKH HEXEN, ACEPHALIX, PORTISHEAD, BLONDE REDHEAD, ERYKAH BADU, BEACH HOUSE, all of those were killer. Sound was good, mood was good, just everything was perfect for those shows. Flawless performances and so on. I saw CANNIBAL CORPSE last year for the first time and it was one of the most punishing shows i’ve ever seen.
Is there any band that you’ve always wanted to see live but never had the chance to catch them? Any classic show that you wish you could have experienced?
I really regret never seeing PRINCE. ASSÜCK, KHANATE, BURNING WITCH, ASUNDER, HENDRIX, CORRUPTED. FUNKADELIC.
What music or artist has been the most influential to you as a songwriter? Do you change what you listen to when you write music? Do you have a go-to record that you use for inspiration? How have these influences changed over the course of your songwriting career?
Probably Corrupted, Unearthly Trance, Khanate, Crowbar, Napalm Death, Godflesh, Today is the Day and Incantation in the Metal world. But I take influence from all over the place. I’m constantly cycling out bands, genres and so on.
What is the most impressive band you’ve toured with? The one that you just had to watch every night? Did you learn anything from them/by watching them?
WEEDEATER. Just seeing those dudes tear it up every night, been playing together for years just doing their thing was inspiring. They’re legends.
What are some of your all-time favorite music books and/or zines, documentaries, biopics?
The 7UP film series is good.
Do you have any unpopular music opinion that you would like to defend? Something that you love and yet can hardly find anyone to agree on how great it is?
I can acknowledge that the BEATLES are considered to be an integral piece of Rock history but I think they sound like shit. I hate their voices. I listen to Harsh Noise so i’m not sure how much weight this carries at all.
